With 20 years of experience, I know and have lived how Project Management over the years has changed. Submitting my CV with project management experience is not really cutting it now, you know why? Because companies and organisations are going through major change and need leaders who can take them on that change. Continue reading “Is Project Management as we know it, dead?”

It’s spring, there’s been time for lunch today in your working day. Maybe you’re finishing early and are just having a mooch around LinkedIn to pass the time? Well I am in that mood today is a Friday, of reflection, reflections from the last three months of looking for my next opportunity. Also receiving your P45 in the post also helps you reflect quite a lot!
It’s not too late, even if it is already the last day of the month. You can make today your first day to focus on your goals for 2014.
Have you set your goals for 2014? Have you thought about how technology is going to help you achieve them? No then don’t worry, I’ve thought about it for you. Here’s my top 5 goals…
I speak to many people about how it can be difficult to setup a small business or shared interest group on Facebook. I quickly reply, “That’s because they want you to pay. It won’t be free forever” I get baffled looks and people ask for more about this ‘not free Facebook’ I talk of. I generally give an example.
“Did you know when you post an update from a group or page not all of your followers see it?” I get inquisitive looks back. I continue…
Many people ask me how do you define your Digital Strategy? Well cliche I know, but it depends…
Who is the ‘your’? Are you a large corporation governed by standards and regulations? Are you a small charity and you don’t think you need any digital strategy? Are you a business owner and don’t have the time or think it’s important? Well here’s some thoughts on this area. One digital strategy does not fill all types of business, sizes or organisations or industry areas. Customising and applying a best approach is what’s required.
Can you remember what you last read? Maybe traveling to work this morning. It was an interesting read but what was it about? who did it involve? can you remember? you read it whilst checking SMS on your smartphone, picking up the newspaper on the seat next to you at the same time as listening to music through your headphones. What did you husband, or wife say to you when you last spoke? Did you organise to meet a friend and discover it was the same evening as your wedding anniversary, but you’d forgot because your mind just wasn’t thinking clearly; this being a real example. Can you remember birthdays if Facebook or your birthday reminder application only reminds you first?
I’m a winner! Back in November I applied to the Vodafone’s World of Difference UK programme. Every year they sponsor people to donate themselves and experience for a charity of their choice. Out of thousands of applicants I was one of the 500 people chosen to work for their dream charity.
I’ll be working for Nukanti Foundation for Children, it’s an independent international non-profit organization, devoted to investing in education, empowerment and leadership skills, and hope for children, particularly in communities devastated by violence, poverty and armed conflict.
You can read about the charity here: http://www.nukantifoundation.org/
